Rangers sign LHP Beimel, 1B Jackson (AP)
Left-handed reliever Joe Beimel and first baseman-outfielder Conor Jackson have agreed to minor league contracts with the Texas Rangers. Beimel went 1-1 with a 5.33 ERA in 35 games with Pittsburgh last year. Jackson hit .244 with five home runs and 43 RBIs in 114 games last season with Oakland and Boston, which acquired him at the trade deadline.

Mariners add relievers Camp, Kuo (AP)
The Mariners have agreed to a $750,000, one-year contract with Shawn Camp and a $500,000, one-year deal with Hong-Chih Kuo in an attempt to add bullpen depth. Kuo was an All-Star in 2010 with the Dodgers but struggled last season with a back problem early in the season and missed a month with anxiety disorder.

Cards give INF Cora minor league deal (AP)
Light-hitting infielder Alex Cora has agreed to a minor league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals and would get an $800,000 deal if added to the 40-man roster. The 36-year-old played all four infield positions last season for the Washington Nationals while appearing in 91 games and making 16 starts at third base.

Cubs claim Cardenas, designate DeWitt (AP)
The Chicago Cubs have claimed infielder Adrian Cardenas off waivers from the Oakland Athletics and designated infielder Blake DeWitt for assignment. The moves were announced on Monday. Primarily a second baseman, the 24-year-old Cardenas hit .314, drove in 51 runs and scored 70 for Triple-A Sacramento last year.

Penny inks 1-year deal to pitch in Japan (AP)
The Softbank Hawks of Japan's Pacific League have signed former major league pitcher Brad Penny to a one-year contract. Softbank announced the signing of free agent Penny on its website Sunday The 33-year-old right-hander is expected to arrive in Japan on Wednesday. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
